Simon operates the last remaining fabric pleating workshop in Melbourne.
Coming from a background in investment banking, Simon taught himself the
pleating trade over the past few years and is responsible for the survival of
this workshop. The workshop houses an enormous archive of pleating moulds and
machinery, many of which Simon still uses to complete orders from couture and theatre
costumes to netball skirts. Specialty Pleaters is one of only two remaining
pleating workshops in Australia, and is an invaluable source of specialised
skills for our bespoke industry production.
